Every Dollar Counts
It’s fair to say that most of us are against waste and fraud—I know I am. But I also believe that what one person may view as “waste,” another may see as a lifeline.
As we begin to see the effects of recent federal domestic policies and fiscal shifts, New Mexicans are bracing for some hard challenges. Our beloved state is among the largest recipients of federal support—from national research and military investments to Medicaid and SNAP. Yet we must be cautious not to let broad ideas about “waste and fraud” become excuses to neglect or “write off” those who rely and survive on certain resources, including philanthropic support. This is where we all come in. Making a difference comes in all sizes. While we often notice the big donor gifts or major budget announcements, the truth is that every dollar counts.
At the New Mexico Foundation, we remain committed to helping individuals, families, and businesses give in ways that strengthen people, places, and possibilities. If you’ve ever thought about giving—whether through a direct gift, endowed fund or creating a Donor Advised Fund—now is a good time. We’re here to help connect generosity with opportunity, because every act of support helps build a stronger New Mexico. With gratitude and hope, |
