Patricio Guerrerortiz

Patricio Guerrerortiz
Patricio Guerrerortiz, resident of the Land of Enchantment for the past 44 years and counting. I have lived In Santa Fe for 34 of those years. I am a very proud parent to four adult children (Tatyana, Nadya, Diego and Gabriela). My daughters have given me the joy of grandparenting six children and one in the way (Liam 17, Lucas 12, Yesenia 8, Oliver 6, Emiliano 5, Elias 4) and the youngest girl expected to be born in late March ’26.
I am currently mostly retired as a professional engineer, and I spend my time in endeavors that involve children grandparenting, community service, young-professional mentoring and some engineering work, which I also love, while assisting my engineer spouse in running her own professional enterprise. I split my active professional years working in the public sector managing engineering activities, primarily related to water utilities infrastructure, I served with the cities of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, as well as with the Counties of Santa Fe and Los Alamos. For two of those years I proudly served the State of New Mexico, as the Deputy Secretary of Transportation for engineering design, transportation and transit planning. I have always seen public service as my opportunity to embrace and contribute to the well being of one community, as opposed to one client at the time.
Contributing to the reliable supply of clean water to the members of my community has always brought a great deal of satisfaction in my life. I see water as essential for a healthy life, and the access to its reliable supply as a human right. While my years of direct involvement in the design and operation of water and wastewater services me be mostly behind me, promoting the expansion of the number of people with access to it is still very important to me and one way in which I can play a positive role for our communities in New Mexico. The New Mexico Foundation provides me a wonderful opportunity to do that.
