Prior to this, he served as President and CEO of First Peoples Fund, where he helped elevate Indigenous artists and culture bearers through national programs that celebrate and sustain traditional knowledge, artistry, and leadership.
Justin’s leadership journey also includes time as CEO of Jemez Enterprises, a Section-17 forprofit corporation owned by the Pueblo of Jemez, and as President and CEO of the Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation, where he championed the health and wellbeing of Native youth.
Earlier, Huenemann served as Senior Program Officer at the Northwest Area Foundation, where he supported community-driven economic development across rural, urban, and tribal communities in eight states.
A true innovator, Justin was the founding President and CEO of the Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI), a groundbreaking organization in Minneapolis, MN that redefined Indigenous-led community and economic development in urban spaces.
Across his career, Justin has worked across sectors—from higher education and architecture to local government and entrepreneurship—driving powerful, community-rooted solutions and building organizations that generate impact and uplift marginalized voices and their solutions.
His work has earned him notable recognition, including the Minneapolis Mayor’s Healthy City Award and the Minnesota American Indian Chamber of Commerce Bear Award. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a master’s in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Outside of his professional life, Justin is a men’s traditional dancer, artist, youth basketball coach, and proud father of four.
